The coalition started with a massive air war designed to weaken their troops, military assets and civil infrastructure. Iraq retaliated by launching Scud missiles at Israel and Saudi Arabia.

On February 24th the coalition forces invaded Kuwait and southern Iraq. In four days the Iraqis were encircled and defeated. On February 28th President Bush declared a cease-fire. Kuwait was free.
